HB Apothecary, a subsidiary of HB Pharmacy, founded in 1964, is a full service compounding pharmacy. At HB Apothecary, compounding is a service we enjoy providing for our customers. We have a special compounding lab, with state of the art equipment as well as a broad inventory of chemicals. Our specialists have received specific training and certification in the art of compounding.

The Art of Compounding:

Compounding is the art and science of preparing customized medications from raw materials. Unfortunately most pharmacies do not possess the skills, ingredients, time, or desire to prepare customized medications. As a result, utilizing a compound designed specifically for you is almost considered a LUXURY instead of your RIGHT.

Why Compound?

• The pharmacist can prepare the medication in the form of a liquid, capsule, troche, ointment, cream, gel, or suppository if the patient cannot take the medication in its commercially available form
• If a medication has been discontinued by or no longer available from the manufacturer
• If an adult or infant requires customized dosage strengths, thus eliminating "breaking/crushing tablets"
• If a patient has an allergic reaction to particular dyes, preservatives, or fillers
• If medications need flavor and a sweetener to make them more palatable for the patient (especially for young children)
• Several medications the patient is taking can be combined, decreasing the hassle of having to take multiple individual medications
• If a diabetic patient needs customized sugar-free medication
